Current State of Development

Hey everyone! We’ve spent the last couple of days working on the website and F95 thread while juggling our freelance work. It really is tricky to maintain a balance but we manage <3 At least we’ve managed to announce the game we’ve been working on for the past couple of months. The ”Marilyn’s Mansion”. So it is time to start posting regular development updates.

While we were sharing our promo images on various platforms, we’ve mentioned that we’ve been doing experiments to decide on the final look of the game renders. While we share occasional artistic renders which has no likeness to the in-game look we are aiming for, we are also dropping renders of the in game imagery. Such as this one below.

You might have noticed the aspect ratio is not exactly ”16:9”. That is one of the main things we’ve been debating on and upon countless hours and renders, we’ve decided on the cinematic bars. Not just because we like the look, we like it a lot, but there is a logical reason behind it too.

We’ve played and worked on countless AVN’s. One thing we’ve noticed is that the ”UI” is always obstructing the images. Most of the time, important stuff gets away unobstructed yet seeing dialogue boxes on the beautiful girl on the screen breaks the immersion in our opinion. That is one of the main reasons we’ve gone for this aspect ratio and cinematic bars. Also, it ultimately helps the feeling we’d like to convey while you guys are playing our game, We’d like you to feel like you are watching a movie.

We will be sharing our UI concepts when we finalize them but you can expect subtitles on the bottom bar instead of a huge rectangular dialogue box with flashy colours obstructing a good 1/8 of the scene. Same goes for other UI elements too of course. We will showcase all of them in due time.

Before we finalize this DevLog, we’d also like to talk about what is done and what is not in terms of development.

Currently, we have all the main characters created. You can visit the characters section of the Marilyn’s Mansion page and check out the current cast. So now, Wifey Bunny needs to create a couple of side characters and some one off characters. Afterwards, we will be done with the character creation phase for a substantial amount of time. Don’t worry, we already have all the characters we need for the initial release.

Also, we have created the base environments that are going to be in the initial release. Currently we can only showcase the early test images of the mansion but there will be more coming in the future.

The first image is the initial guest bedroom concept from the mansion. It is one of the 15+ locations of the mansion, located in the first floor. On the next image, you can see the mansion and its environment with no lighting and camerawork done. It is a huge building completely created from scratch using Blender and the image is taken once the transfer process is done.

Next up, poolside area and the early version of our beloved Annie. She agreed to model for us to help us work on the lighting and set dressing. Just a little reminder, as you can see from the DAZ3D viewport screenshot, there is no postwork on any of the images and there will never be any postwork in the game. We are trying to achieve the quality we are aiming for by only using RAW renders from DAZ3D. Of course, these are the earliest of the early concepts so the final look will be a lot better.

Phew… It’s been a huge post. Thank you so much if you’ve read up till here. Like we’ve mentioned at the beginning of this post, we will be posting regular updates on the development process from now on. Here is a small parting gift from us, a render of a cute moment featuring our dynamic duo, Jennie & Annie.
